This was a strange but fun task.
The Havbyen Bergen (Marine Cluster) project is a pitch to the directors, from the Communications Department at the University of Bergen. I was assigned to be project lead and designer of this project. While the web-aspects of the project was UX-workshopped and developed by Cure design agency, here in Bergen. A great company that does great work.
The tagline for the brand-name Havbyen Bergen (Ocean City Bergen) is “over og under havet” (Over and under the ocean). The logo needed to be versatile with the possibility for further use such as motion graphics. As I sketched the logo out, and planned the strategy of the brands presentation, I looked over the promotional material of the brand and saw the relationship of the two spaces (over and under) as connected, not only by colours, but also in a cohesive manner.
Thus the logo became a conceptualization of a graph showing water surface levels, over and under. The colours found, as the sun hit the ocean surface, was then used as the brands colours. Also reflected on the web-page.
Havbyen Bergen is still being pitched and under deliberation. The concept and product, however, is completed.
